Dimitris Platis has been a member of the ISNS council for many years. He has been involved in neonatal screening since 2008 as a biochemist of the Hellenic National Neonatal Screening Program at the Institute of Child Health. Dimitris Platis has a BSc in Biology from The University of Athens, an MSc in Molecular Biology and Pathology of Viruses and a PhD in Biochemistry from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London, UK.

He has extensive experience in diverse research fields (Protein biochemistry, Mass Spectrometry/Liquid Chromatography and Enzyme technology. Since 2020 he is the Laboratory Chief of the Department of Neonatal Screening in the Hellenic National Neonatal Screening Program at the Institute of Child Health and has been instrumental in the expansion of the Hellenic National Neonatal Screening Program in 2024.
