Eleana Petropoulou is the Lead NBS Dietitian, responsible for the dietetic management of children diagnosed through the national newborn screening program. This is a single-center program covering the entire country. Prior to this role, she worked in the UK as a Specialist IMD Dietitian at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, focusing on UCD, OAs, and FAODs. Eleana holds two bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry and Dietetics. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, USA. While in the US, she completed her training at UPMC Children’s Hospital in the metabolic disease department.

She has served as a member of the advisory board for galactosemia and FAODs worldwide. Her current research interests include emergency management in CPT2 deficiency and bone health in PKU.
