Frankova

Věra Franková is an assosciate professor at the Institute for Medical Humanities, First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague (FFM CUNI). Simultaneously she works as a medical ethics consultant at the Department of Pediatric and Inherited Metabolic Diseases at General University Hospital in Prague and expert in bioethics at the Bank of Biological Material (BBMRI.cz). Věra obtained her PhD in molecular biology and genetics in 2002 as the result of her 3 years research in Max-Planck Institut für Biologie in Tübingen, Germany. Then she has focused on psychosocial and ethical aspects of genetic testing and in 2009 she defended her PhD thesis in medical ethics at the Institute for Medical Humanities (FFM CUNI). Her main research interests are ethical, legal and social implications of genomics, genetic testing, newborn screening and biobanking. Věra is a member of the ELSI Working Group of the European 1+Million Genomes Initiative, member of Working Group for Secondary Use of Electronic Health Data of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and independent ethics advisor of ERC 2022 ADG Oncolipid project.  She also collaborating in national implementation of European Open Science Cloud initiative in the area of sensitive data governance.
