Biography
Dr. Michela Perrone Donnorso, is a Chemist of the Laboratory for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism and Newborn Screening at the IRCCS Giannina Gaslini Children Hospital - University of Genova, Italy. Previously she worked in the Newborn Screening Laboratory at the Buzzi Children Hospital in Milan.
She has long been active in improving newborn screening program by developing new analytical methods, in particular by LC-MS/MS technique.
She obtained a Ph.D in Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine, from the University Hospital of Rome Tor Vergata, completing a postdoctoral fellow at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) and a specialization in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry.
She is a member of SIMMESN Italian Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders and Newborn Screening.
She has published several peer-reviewed articles and one pending patent about 2nd tier test in newborn screening.
She was also awarded the SSIEM High Ranked Poster Award 2024 for her 2nd tier test presentation.
