Rolf Zetterström received his MD and PhD at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. He did his residency in paediatrics at the Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm and continued in paediatric endocrinology and inborn errors of metabolism. Since 2016 his is head of the national newborn screening laboratory at the Centre for inherited metabolic disaeses and works  part time as consultant at Astrid Lindgrens Childrens Hospital both at Karolinska University Hospital. From 2012 until 2022 he was the chairman of the working group for inborn errors of metabolism in the Swedish paediatric society and since 2013 he is registry holder for the Swedish national registry for inborn errors of metabolism. Between 2019 and 2023 he was one of two European representatives of the International Society for neonatal screening (ISNS) council and since 2019 he is a member of the ISNS scientific committee.
